Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI)...and Belonging

Centennial believes in understanding and creating a Diverse team,
that operates under policies and practices that ensure Equity,
and fosters a culture of Inclusion.

Centennial measures its DEI program’s success on its ability to maintain a diverse team of employees that feel like they BELONG.

Centennial believes that by creating a culture of acceptance and trust, where employees feel they can authentically share about themselves without fear of judgment or consequences, employees have greater productivity, feel satisfied and that they Belong to something great.

Centennial groups its DEI efforts and impacts into four categories.

  • Our Employees
  • Our Clients and Partners
  • Our Vendors
  • Our Community
Centennial is proud of our efforts to grow a diverse workforce.

DEI requires intentional and ongoing efforts to create a sense of belonging. Centennial has programs, policies and practices in place, but even equally important has the ability to envision new ideas and the dedication to lead forward initiatives.

At right is a quick glance at Centennial’s DEI metrics from 2018 to 2022. Currently the construction industry has limited populations of qualified women, minorities, veterans, and other groups. In recent years, rather than just focusing on the top construction management Universities, Centennial’s Internship program has focused on Minority Serving Institutions (MSI) to find top talent, including Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs), Tribal Colleges and Universities (TCUs), and Asian American and Pacific Islander Serving Institutions (AAPISIs). Centennial has also partnered with organizations that support minority and disadvantaged groups to give these individuals opportunities and development, and avoid “wasted talent” due to circumstance.

These initiatives allow Centennial to engage with candidates as they prepare to enter the professional market.  This enables growth for underrepresented groups in the construction industry, increases Centennial’s workforce diversity, and gives back to the community.

Per the Bureau of Labor Statistics only 10% of construction industry employees are women. At Centennial, over 13% of our construction operations employees are women, and 12% of our Construction Project Management roles are held by women.

Centennial is proud to say that its employee tenure is over twice the national average!
