| Scope: |
Project scope included constructing a patio deck at the rear of the West Point Club overlooking the Hudson River. Work included selective demolition of concrete stairs, railings, windows, partial exterior wall, and hydronic piping. Excavation and placing of footings and structural steel. Installed decking, railings, EFIS columns, faux walls and deck lights. |
| Challenges: |
Challenges included the design to be in accordance with the Hudson River Coastal Commission and also excavating by hand as the site is located on a steep slope which prohibited access for excavation equipment; inclement weather during excavations and concrete operations; and redesign of footings resulting from bedrock being at a higher elevation than was indicated on the as-built drawings of the existing facility.
