Thank you for visiting our website. It is just one way to learn more about Centennial and how we look at the world we live, serve and grow in. I hope you come away with the sense that Centennial is something different in the construction universe.
During my ten plus years with Centennial, I have had the opportunity to visit our diverse client base across the country. During each visit, I always ask “What unique value do you receive from this contract tool and our organization?” Most answers reinforce what we believe our advantages and differentiators are. And once in a while, I hear an intriguing perspective that we had not considered before!
One of my favorites is, “Centennial is good at the really weird stuff.” From renovations of the United States Vice President’s laundry room to cleaning a historic model of a ship at Annapolis, from creating a thirty two foot concrete map of the Lewis and Clark expedition to disassembling a hyperbaric chamber. While the list is too long to continue, I know each of our teams has successfully executed “weird” projects. We excel on projects that are complex, involve multiple disciplines, and require significant coordination with intensive management. They usually are high profile and ones that no one else wants. Over time, we have developed – through detailed joint scoping, collaborative, incidental design, and an integrated project management system – the ability to quickly provide a turnkey solution for these “weird” projects!
Words and phrases that I often hear include the value of a partnered relationship; a real element of trust – honest answers; the value of joint scoping; the flexibility of JOC; the responsiveness and positive attitude of our staff; improved communications; no contractor driven changes; a fun contract to administer and predictable results. Each of these elements is a validation of our mission, core values, and value statement. As one client summarized, “I know I can count on you. You allow me to focus on my problems and the bigger picture.”
Centennial strives to be an extension of the owner’s staff. Our objectives must be exactly aligned with the client’s. We must also cost effectively provide a safe, quality product that enables our clients to accomplish their missions. This is what we are hired for. It starts with earning trust. This is done in every interaction – with owners, subcontractors, our peers – by keeping our promises and honoring our commitments. Simply put, living our mission statement. It happens every day. A client, where our project manager attends their staff meetings, recently told me, “You are mainstreamed into our organization.” Congratulations to that team – mission accomplished!
We should also not forget that sometimes value is intangible. When I am with a CCE team, I hear and see the care and respect for the clients’ needs. The tone and sincerity is professional and most importantly, genuine. The value is less obvious and is beyond any metric we monitor. Those we serve clearly senses we are not like the rest, or better yet, we are the unexpected in our industry.
This special sense of service and the talent of our people are what our clients are buying. We are in the people-building business. Our clients always tell me, “you have great people”…I couldn’t agree more! Centennial is all about great people building an extraordinary company.
Best Regards,
