Centennial’s Won Joins University of Houston Construction Management Industry Advisory Board

HOUSTON, TX—March 25, 2010— Walter Won, project general manager at Centennial Contractors Enterprises recently joined the University of Houston Construction Management Industry Advisory Board to support the university’s construction management students.

In the past, Centennial, a leading Job Order Contractor, has supported the university and students by inviting them to its quarterly safety fairs and hiring interns for the summer. It plans to expand that support by providing free OSHA 10 training, helping their fundraisers and speaking to classes on topics relevant to their education.

Most recently, Centennial invited the construction management students to its fire extinguisher training seminar. During the three-hour session, participants learned about the causes of fire, how to put out small fires, and how to properly use a fire extinguisher. In addition, they had the opportunity to practice discharging a fire extinguisher.

“Like many, I came up the ranks because someone took a chance on me by giving me an internship which led to full time job and a successful start to my career,” said Won. “I’m happy to return the favor.”

The goal of the 32-person board is to promote, support, and enhance the construction management program at the University of Houston. Won is currently serving on the Curriculum subcommittee.
