Local Facility Management Group Presents Annual Spring Conference

ALBUQUERQUE, NM—April 20, 2009— The New Mexico Chapter of the International Facility Management Association is hosting its annual Spring Educational Conference on May 15, 2009 at the Marriott Courtyard in Albuquerque.

The all-day conference is focused on Optimizing Facility Management Operations. Education Chair Mary Gauer, a Senior Project Manager at UNM, worked to organize the event. Sessions topics focus on sustainability tactics such as energy conservation, energy management tools, State of New Mexico LEED® initiatives, and recycling. The keynote speaker is Patrick Okamura, who was responsible for the first LEED for Existing Building Certification in his role as Facility Manager for General Dynamics in Phoenix.

“Sustainable options increase everyday,” says Gauer. “The sessions encompass the range of things facility managers can do to make the most of their systems today. As operational dollars become scarce in a difficult economy, these tools will be more and more important”
